For several years I worked as a designer-technologist, designed and produced mostly plywood classroom furniture and related accessories. Everything was designed in SolidWorks, produced on large CNC milling and laser machines. When designing, I try to use the industrial design approach of Dieter Rams and BRAUN ( https://dasprogramm.co.uk/shop/braun/ ). I use CAD systems all the time when designing things and mechanisms, it saves a lot of time in production ) I'll show you some of my interesting, from an engineering point of view, projects.
Universal workbenches and chairs made of plywood for engineering classrooms. Design feature - simple production and assembly, technological design, reliability, price. The furniture meets the standards for educational institutions.
A classroom for engineering education in a rural school with furniture according to my designs.
Table for robotics and engineering classes with extensions for installing a computer system unit (left) and accessories (right). The back wall has a panel for mounting a monitor, a tool organizer, and a box for storing parts. A profile tube is designed to safely supply electricity from the ceiling.
The table is completely disassembled for transportation, the assembly is carried out on the metric bolts 10 mm. The number of parts is reduced for manufacturability. Assembly on screws is not a problem because of the used in the design to align the plane joints tongue and groove. Plywood 18mm.
The latest version of the chair, the amount of material used for production has been reduced. The design elements have become more concise and minimalistic.
Pupil's chair. One of the prototypes. Assembly uses 4 types of parts and 10 screws. The backrest has a comfortable tilt of 105 degrees. Plywood 18 and 10 mm.
Production batch of chairs before finishing.
Storage systems.
Double shelf-cabinet.
Large LEGO Floor Storage Cabinet. Plywood 10mm.
Large floor cabinet for storing training laptops and tablets.
Quickly build a LEGO robotics competition table.
The table consists of 3 collapsible lightweight parts of 10 and 6 mm plywood, which fit into the trunk of any car. The table is assembled on a 18mm plywood table top.
A view of the general assembly of the LEGO competition table.
Thanks to the crossed ribs used in the design, the surface of the plywood table when assembled becomes completely flat with screws in the intersections of the ribs.
The design of the support allows you to set the table in an upright position for storage against the wall.
Metric bolts and 10mm nuts are used for general assembly. The table takes about 15 minutes to assemble and disassemble.
Geo-dome - greenhouse. Brackets - plywood 18mm. The ribs are pine board. The height of the structure - 385 centimeters.
Assembly Geo-dome design in CAD SolidWorks.
Start of assembly at the customer's site.
Check the strength of the structure =)
Completed assembly.
Hanger in the hall in the Art Nouveau style ) Plywood 18 mm. Assembly with 8 screws.
Hanger project in SolidWorks.
Hooks for clothes on the hanger that do not fall, and you can hang a bag.
Stand for placing information on A4 sheets. Special feature - assembly without glue and screws, fixation of elements on the back side on clips. Material - plywood 6 and 4 mm, laser cutting.
The design is in the form of a postage stamp.
Boxes and boxes made of plywood.
The box in the rack from IKEA. Minimalism and aesthetics. Plywood 10mm. 4 screws.
Curved shelf - drawer. Consists of only 2 different parts. Assembly with 4 screws.
Shelving unit - shelf of curved drawers.
Box for the collection of used batteries. 4mm plywood, laser cut. Assembly with plastic ties.
Box for children's kit-builder. Plywood 6 mm. Lid lock - construction detail.
Small Box for children's kit-builder. Plywood 6 mm. Lid lock - construction detail.
Assembling from small boxes.
Large boxes for transporting books in the trunk of the car. Plywood 10mm. Cover. Assembly with 8 screws.
Desk organizer. 3 types of parts. Plywood 10mm. 2 screws.
Box on the perforated wall for screws. Material plywood 10 mm. Assembly with 2 screws.
LED lights.
Standard office lamp with 4 LED assemblies. The peculiarity of the design is the minimum number of different parts: only 4 parts are used, the remaining elements are duplicated. Plywood 10 mm. 20 screws.
Lamp assembly, bottom view, light diffusers for LED assemblies are visible.
Lamp assembly, top view, you can see the heat sinks for the LED assemblies.
Lamp with a switch on magnets. My version of an idea from Instagram.
The lamp turns on when the cylinders are brought close to each other.
A tool for the simultaneous milling of holes in multiple plastic housings. / Оснастка для одновременного фрезерования отверстий в множестве пластиковых корпусов.
Various coasters.
Bedside table, or stool) Plywood 18 mm. Joint on the tongue and groove.
Stand to install a fire extinguisher.
Interesting design of the quick-assembly stand for the frame made of plywood, thanks to the 45 degrees slope of the strut, it forms both vertical and horizontal stability of the legs of the structure.
Coil stand with thick wire. 2 types of parts, 6 screws.
Stand for displaying a heavy building model. Plywood 18 mm. 2 types of parts. / Подставка для показа тяжёлого макета здания. Фанера 18 мм. 2 вида деталей.
Stand for a wide monitor on the table. Plywood 10mm. Stiffening rib. Four screws. Easy assembly on the tongue and groove joint.
Miscellaneous.
The robot is a table organizer for children. Assembly without glue, on plastic ties. Plywood 4mm, Laser cut.
Bird feeder requiring nothing to fasten the parts: self-supporting construction, thanks to the point of support - suspension from above. Parts are held together by a "lock" and gravity.
The number of parts of the feeder is minimal due to the mirror elements in the design. There are only 3 types of parts.
Project of a table for welding works. Metal 6mm. The alignment of the plane of the table is carried out through the crossed ribs.
The feeder and birdhouse are children's constructors for quick assembly with plastic ties.
